Capital Health Taps Dynamic Imaging for Web-Driven
PACS
Cites Complete Off-Campus Functionality
as Key to Decision
Dynamic Imaging has been selected by Capital Health System (Trenton,
NJ), a 589-bed dual-campus, acute-care teaching hospital, to
implement an advanced Web-based PACS, following an in-depth search
of more than a dozen vendors. The selection of Dynamic Imaging's
IntegradWeb, a second-generation fully web-driven PACS, will
provide Capital Health with complete functionality and accessibility
from any computer.
"The potential of IntegradWeb's open architecture and robust
features is considerable," comments Yaakov Applbaum, M.D.,
Chairman of Radiology for Capital Health System. "Dynamic
Imaging will tailor a solution to meet our specific needs. We're
very excited about the installation." Dr. Applbaum previewed
all competing vendor applications before deciding on IntegradWeb.
A key goal of the PACS was satisfying
referring physicians and attracting new referrals by providing
a user friendly environment with full-featured remote functionality.
Capital Health operates in an extremely competitive environment
with several other well-recognized hospitals serving the immediate
area. "We wanted to make
the transition to filmless smooth and seamless for our clinicians,
while meeting a full range of needs," Dr. Applbaum explains. "That
is where Dynamic Imaging won hands down."
He notes that among the vendors examined,
only Dynamic Imaging could meet the expectations of the clinicians,
while providing a full-featured remote solution running over
the hospital network and the Internet. "With IntegradWeb, any doctor can work
on a PC anywhere exactly as do radiologists within the department.
Or, users can select their own specific preferences, if desired," notes
Dr. Applbaum.
In addition to the competitive advantage, Capital Health also
believes IntegradWeb will deliver significant workflow and clinical
benefits. Like many multi-site providers, the hospital experiences
significant problems as films are moved between sites. If films
are not readily available, exams may have to be repeated. IntegradWeb
will eliminate this serious workflow barrier and also will benefit
diagnosis, as clinicians enjoy easy and immediate access to all
relevant prior patient studies.
Capital Health will meet the needs of physicians not yet online
with Dynamic Imaging's CD Film Solo, a CD-based solution. The
application copies studies directly to self-playing CD's with
a viewing environment similar to IntegradWeb's.
