Olean General Hospital Installs Dynamic Imaging's
IntegradWeb
PACS
Cites Improved Efficiency and Web-Driven
Image Access as Key
Allendale,
N.J., August 27, 2004 — Dynamic Imaging announces
the installation of IntegradWeb, its second-generation fully
web-driven PACS, at Olean General Hospital (Olean, NY), a 186-bed
hospital serving a multi-county area in western New York. In
addition to improving the speed and efficiency of the radiology
department, a key goal of the project was to allow ultra-fast
image access to dispersed sub-specialty radiologists and to clinicians
both inside the hospital and within the community.
"IntegradWeb allows our clinicians instant access to their
patients' images, from essentially anywhere," explains Cathleen
R. Wright, DNS, RN, Vice President for Patient Care Services
and Chief Nursing Officer. "Because it is web-driven, our
hospital is able to provide campus-wide image access, especially
in critical care areas, at a fraction of what it may otherwise
have cost us. The ability to provide images across a rural multi-county
area truly enhances our service to our patients and their doctors."
Radiologist Arooj Shaikh, M.D. notes, "Our
radiology group serves many hospitals with our specialists
spread out over large areas of the state. IntegradWeb allows
the appropriate subspecialist to access images immediately
and has proven to be a critical workhorse that improves my
personal productivity enormously. We use many PACS systems
at our hospitals, and IntegradWeb allows us to serve Olean
General Hospital much more efficiently than we ever could have
with our other PACS systems."
While web-driven image distribution
beyond the enterprise was the primary goal, the new IntegradWeb
PACS also has had significant impact in the radiology department,
which handles over 50,000 studies annually. "IntegradWeb speeds workflow and brings
all the tools needed right to the radiologists' fingertips, says
Dr. Wright. It also provides radiologists and clinicians with
simultaneous real-time access to both images and reports," she
said.
Dr. Shaikh notes that IntegradWeb's
smooth integration with the hospital's QuadraMed HIS/RIS system
is one reason for the improved workflow. He comments, "Even
though we had established relationships with two other PACS
vendors, we quickly realized that with IntegradWeb, we could
not only cost-effectively achieve our goals today, but also
gain an open system architecture to support our growth. We
simply could not be any happier."
