Dynamic Imaging Participates in IHE’s
Portable Data for Imaging Demonstration at RSNA 2005
Web-based Leader Proves Strength in Standards
and Interoperability
Allendale,
NJ, November 15, 2005 — Dynamic Imaging, an
established leader in
Web-based image and information management,
continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting standard-based
system interoperability in the field of medical imaging. At RSNA
2005, Dynamic Imaging (RSNA Booth #5150) will participate in
the industry demonstration of improved interoperability of imaging
information exchange via removable media (such as a CD-R). At
this demonstration, RSNA visitors can obtain from Dynamic Imaging
and other participating vendors samples of CDs formatted according
to the requirements of Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise’s
(IHE) updated Portable Data for Imaging (PDI) Integration Profile.
Later, they can take these CDs to other participating vendors'
booths and verify that the information on the CDs can be properly
imported into those vendors' systems without need for proprietary
converters and frustration of failures due to incompatible formatting.
In addition to the DICOM images, the information on the CDs can
include relevant information (such as images and reports) encoded
in Web-compatible formats and accessible via standard Web browsers.
Standards-based media, such as CDs, are a critical component
for institutions to go filmless. While many PACS vendors offer
CDs, they frequently do not support standards, rely on proprietary
data formats, are not able to be imported into third party PACS
and OEM workstations, have a different user interface than the
PACS, and may not include reports.
“Dynamic Imaging is pleased to participate in IHE's PDI
initiative, which is consistent with our active involvement within
the IHE community. As health care continues to move towards regional
health initiatives, IHE will continue to pave the way, and Dynamic
Imaging will be there,” said Andrei Leontiev, Dynamic Imaging's
Project Leader, Information Systems and Interoperability. Andrei
is an active participant on the DICOM Standards Committee, an
active participant and former chair of DICOM Working Group 6
(Base Standard), an active participant of DICOM Working Group
10 (Strategic Planning), and a participant on the IHE Radiology
Planning and Technical Committees, Strategic Development Committee,
and IT Infrastructure Planning and Technical Committees.
Dynamic Imaging will be participating in the IHE North America
Connectathon 2006, to be held January 16-20, 2006, at the RSNA
headquarters building in Oak Brook, Ill.
