Universal Health Services Selects
Dynamic Imaging IntegradWeb® PACS
Nation's Third Largest Hospital Management Company Brings
Its Live IntegradWeb Sites to Three Sites and Continues to Integrate IntegradWeb Across the Enterprise
Allendale, NJ, May 25, 2006 — Dynamic Imaging, an established leader in Web-based image and information management, announced today that it has recently been selected by Universal Health Services (UHS) to implement IntegradWeb PACS across UHS’ acute care hospital enterprise.
Acting upon the system’s strategic, enterprise-wide plan for PACS, implementation has recently been completed at two UHS institutions: Lancaster Community Hospital in Lancaster, California, and Fort Duncan Medical Center in Eagle Pass, Texas. Of note, Dynamic Imaging accelerated Fort Duncan’s PACS implementation to meet go-live requirements for its brand new facility. Additionally, Dynamic Imaging has begun implementation of enterprise PACS at Spring Valley Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. Four other acute care institutions are primed for potential 2006 implementation, with plans for a total of 13 institutions to be live with IntegradWeb PACS by the end of 2007. Additionally, there are seven UHS institutions currently using another PACS provider. Those institutions will be reviewing Dynamic Imaging’s technology, price and migration capabilities. Moving to IntegradWeb will be an option for those institutions as well, based upon local timing and considerations.
Although it previously used another PACS at several of its institutions, UHS had an established, proven relationship with Dynamic Imaging. Wellington Regional Medical Center, a UHS facility in Wellington, Florida, has been an IntegradWeb PACS customer since 2003. Wellington has a strong radiology department supporting its inpatient and outpatient services, its acute-care services, and its comprehensive oncology program. When UHS decided to request proposals for a new PACS, Dynamic Imaging’s track record at Wellington of providing a robust enterprise PACS, great service, and demonstrated integration capabilities led UHS to select it as the system’s full-scale, nationwide PACS provider.
“Our reputation and consistently high KLAS scores validated the great feedback they were getting from Wellington, leading to a strategic UHS PACS decision,” explained Alex Jurovitsky, Dynamic Imaging’s chief executive officer. “IntegradWeb PACS will enhance the already high quality of patient care and service to referring physicians provided throughout the UHS network. We are immensely proud to have such a respected nationwide care provider as a part of the Dynamic Imaging customer family.”
“We have been pleased with the usability and flexibility of the IntegradWeb PACS application,” described Linda Reino, UHS’ chief information officer. “And we have not had any application-related downtime since going live at Wellington—that’s through two hurricanes. Wellington was very satisfied with the functional capabilities within IntegradWeb and spoke highly of the support that Dynamic Imaging provided.”
Reino said that in addition to outstanding support and ease of integration, Dynamic Imaging’s pricing set IntegradWeb PACS apart economically as well. “Dynamic Imaging offers a cost structure based upon imaging volume, which allowed UHS to have a benchmark for our investment,” Reino said. “Dynamic Imaging’s approach to cost and support is comprehensive. There’s no ‘nickel and diming’ or hidden costs.”
Reino said that during the bidding process, many vendors claimed to be Web-based, but were merely Web-enabled. “What they defined as ‘Web-based’ was a client-server model with a Web server built on top of an existing legacy application,” she said. Conversely, IntegradWeb is completely Web-based. The same application is accessible both within the LAN and remotely over a common GUI, providing a completely portable imaging desktop.
“Dynamic Imaging provided a native Web environment that responded to the flexibility we needed in our enterprise,” said Reino. “IntegradWeb PACS allows for true ease of access for our remote physician community.”
Reino added that ease of access has dramatically improved physician satisfaction scores, resulting in very happy radiology customers. “Dynamic Imaging’s IntegradWeb PACS remains high on the list of satisfaction with our clinicians,” she said. “The radiologists using the system appreciate the ability to quickly evaluate and turn around radiological test results, and the recipients of the critical clinical information enjoy getting the results in a timely fashion.”
UHS looks forward to continuing the expansion of IntegradWeb PACS across its enterprise. According to Reino, “The ease of implementation and flexibility in adding PACS diagnostic workstations has been a significant benefit to our facilities. We have already seen our PACS implementation timeframe reduced by 40 percent—now that's an impact that our facilities greatly appreciate! We also appreciate the ease of overall administration with IntegradWeb PACS, which makes support that much easier for our radiology communities.”
