“Our experience with the PACS system installed at the Imaging Department of Centro Medico de Caracas in August, 2004 has been excellent. The improvement in the workflow is evident and mostly determined by the integration of the different diagnostic modalities (X-ray, Ultrasound, Mammography, CT and MRI).

The interface is simple and friendly, and allows visualization and manipulation of the images with tools that facilitate diagnosis, including MPR, 3D and endoscopic views. The reformatted images can be later visualized by other specialists. Another important benefit is the ability to store previous imaging exams from each patient for further evaluation and comparison.

The system offers the possibility of sending studies via e-mail; film and paper printing; and CD creation for patient/physician use and back-up. In teaching facilities such as ours, it also allows the creation of teaching files according to the American College of Radiology Coding Index.

Overall, this PACS system has been a very useful acquisition for our Department and has greatly improved the quality of our work.”
